pshenmic.dev DFO Funding Proposal December

Updated on 14 Jan 2025

This is funding proposal for a Platform Explorer within pshenmic.dev DFO.

Progress

Last month was very rich on features and work for a future pages. We’re going pretty fast,
with more than 50 pull requests merged in on this period. We’ve a new Identity page on the
frontend that nows looks very pretty, andshows a lot of important info. A lot of tiny UI
Improvements, including rewards and withdrawal status on validator page, and common
design updates guided by our UX designer.

Backend side already prepared for contested resources and masternode voting features,
we’ve added a lot of info in the transaction details, data filtering system, and did better
specific document fetching from GRPC that now should load data for system documents
that is not seen by the indexer. We’ve also spotted and fixed a potential SQL injection
vulnerability in the database requests which are now replaced with a safe variable replacements.

Slowly heading towards fungible tokens, that is going to be soon released in the Platform
protocol. We’ve gone through the code in the development branch and how its going to be
look in general. Once it will be stable enough, we will correctthe data on the designs and
quickly implement it on the backend. Hopefully, thepage will be ready together with Tokens
activation in the network.

Got new designs for contested resources and masternode voting, that will allow you to observe
current document polls, same like on dash.vote, and check all the votes historically. It will include
rich filtering options thatis going to be very useful to explore voting process.

Plan

The plan for next month, is to show even more data on transaction details page, that is currently
missing, such like prefunding voting balance, and some document fields, that is necessary for
developing and debugging purposes, and then shortly proceed to the Data Contracts pages.

The plan for next months, is to finally finish with essential pages (blocks, data contracts, documents),
implement contested resources, masternode voting, and fungible tokens. My rough estimation on
that I about 2-3 months, and after that we can turn down theload on this project to the minimum
(in case no new major features in the network).

Budget

We’ve got a unspent reserve from previous months, and our ask for next month is 215 Dash:

150 Dash Frontend
65 Dash Backend

I love to see development work being done. But seriously this proposal dont tell me anything!
If i'm not a dev and dont want to get into git and read the code, explain to me like i'm a normal user. what is the proposal and what value will you deliver?
What will be the output of this work and how will it benefit Dash?

Hey vampyren, glad you asked!

Platform Explorer is the main user interface to the Dash Platform network that shows you all the ongoing chain data in a nice and easy to use web interface. This is very necessary tool for any user, whether it is a user that would like to learn more about the Dash Platform, a Masternode Owner who’d like to monitor their nodes and rewards or developers trying to build something on Dash Platform. The benefit I believe in ability to explore every possible Dash Platform feature in the most details

The first version of the PE was developed more than a year ago, and like 6 months ago we have started rapidly improving UX, and amount of details being shown. We have redesigned and vastly improved pretty much most of the pages, however there are still some pages left from the initial implementation and misses a lot of details and references:

It would be really great to redo these as well and we already have UX redesigns for it:
https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/235
https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/343
https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/359

Additionally, while we was working on the essential things, some new features were introduced in the network, for what we already have designs, but have not done yet:
* Contested Resources (shows active document polls in the network, such as Contested Names, as an example)
* Masternode Votes (shows all votes being done in the network with ability to filter them)
* Fungible Tokens (will be released in the Dash Platform v2.0)

https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/340
https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/414
https://github.com/pshenmic/platform-explorer/issues/235

This proposal should cover data contract and block rework, together with a backend preparation of Fungible Tokens, and hopefully even more, as we have left some reserve from the previous month

Here you are, the voters who voted YES to a proposal with NO description.

https://mnowatch.org/the_results_dashd_2025-01-13-00-52-26.uniqueHashVotes.161.html?3=pshenmic-dev-pe-february-2025

These voters are identified as:

These voters , in a healthy functioning DAO, should have been SEVERELY PUNISHED for such a stupid vote.
