Proposal description
Dash for the Belt with Rory Macdonald
TL;DR
GreenCandle is proud to present a unique and exciting opportunity to gain massive exposure to a crypto-friendly target demographic during a special primetime event on a major TV network. On January 18, SpikeTV is rebranding to Paramount Network (owned by Paramount Pictures) - a move that will take the programming more mainstream, and branch out from its current base of 98M North American subscribers, consisting primarily of males aged 18-49. Coincidentally, this audience is the same demographic of the typical crypto early adopter and this opportunity could reap a huge return on investment with massive positive exposure for Dash.
On January 20th, the Inaugural Celebration of this rebranding will be a major Mixed Martial Arts main event TV broadcast. As a result of coingun’s outreach to Firas Zahabi at Tristar Gym in a previous proposal, GreenCandle has been able to secure an opportunity to sponsor Rory MacDonald for the main event welterweight title fight during this special TV event. Rory MacDonald is one of the few MMA stars that promotes cryptocurrency on a daily basis to his 217K Twitter followers, 244K Instagram followers, and fight fans. Rory has been quoted as saying that he wants his entire $500K purse to be paid in crypto! Rory tweets consistently about bitcoin and bitcoin cash and we now have the opportunity to teach him, MMA fans and his twitter followers about the benefits of Dash. As a bonus, Rory is one of the most desirable and brand-friendly MMA stars and is challenging the current champion, Douglas Lima in a highly-anticipated match. Rory is in the best shape of his career, coming off a spectacular, dominating TKO win over top contender Paul Daley in August 2017.
Exposure for Dash
Rory has committed to wearing Dash branded outerwear for his many public appearances leading up to the fight, during the “walk-out”, during the fight and after the fight. As part of the sponsorship, GreenCandle will be sending a swag package to Rory for his pre-fight interviews and gym workouts to have Dash on full display for the build-up of the event. Rory will be tweeting about Dash and possibly mention it during interviews. During the walk-out, Dash-branded attire will be seen front and center on the t-shirt and shorts. During the fight, Dash will be visible on the shorts and after the fight with a Dash “trucker” hat. A representative from GC will be at the event to insure Dash has maximum exposure.
What’s unique about Rory and why should we sponsor him?
Rory is a professional, non-controversial fighter that trained with George St. Pierre (arguably the best MMA fighter of all time) at Tristar Gym in Canada. He is considered by many to be GSP’s protege. One of his recent fights, with Robbie Lawler, was voted as “the most exciting fight ever.” Rory doesn’t back down and is as tough as they come. This event will not be boring and will provide a memorable experience and impression of Dash to an audience of millions of males aged 18-49, the exact demographic that encompasses the vast majority of early adopters of cryptocurrency. Here is a link to the story about the “best fight ever”: http://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/...er-vs-rory-macdonald-ii-voted-best-fight-ever
Rory is Compatible with Dash Branding
Rory is non-controversial, has never tested positive for any performance-enhancing drugs and is the ideal type of athlete for Dash to sponsor. Clean, professional demeanor, hard-working and representative of the values Dash Nation promotes and is compatible with the image and brand that Dash Core is seeking. If Dash Core could develop an athlete, we believe someone like Rory would be the archetype.
The Audience
The target demographic of this type of event is ideal for Dash and consistent with our user-base. SpikeTV has 98.7M paid subscribers in North America. Bellator attracts a male demographic aged 18-49, which is the same demographic of the typical crypto enthusiast and early adopter. Typically, the viewership for Bellator fight nights is around 1M, however, this event will be hyped due to the re-branding and as a result we expect more than 1M viewers for this event. With this sponsorship, Dash could be the first alternative cryptocurrency that many of these viewers are made aware of.

Conclusion
GreenCandle is excited to make this a huge success for Dash with massive exposure to Dash’s target market! GC will fly a representative to the event to make sure that branding and apparel is available and worn at all times. It will assign a project manager to this proposal to ensure that the Dash network is well represented.
Our draft MOU has been completed with a payout of $250,000 USD pegged at the 30 day moving average of $780.76 Dash/USD.
Dash for Sponsorship: 320 Dash
Proposal Fee: 5 Dash
Swag Fee: 2 Dash
Escrow Fee: 3 Dash
Total Fee: 330 Dash
Rory is very very excited about this opportunity. He has taken the time to meet with one of the director's of GreenCandle and hash out this proposal face to face and show us his commitment to making this arrangement mutually beneficial. He has openly commented to our director that he hopes this is the beginning of a long and prosperous business venture between MMA and Dash. Now it is a fight sponsorship but one day it could be purses paid in Dash or entire promotions done cashless.
Smash that Yes button and let’s make a Dash for the belt!

We will then provide an update with total costs and disclose any excess funds generated. The community, not GC, will decide how to best spend or save those funds. To be clear, GC will not assume ownership of any excess funds created in the proposal process. This is part of our commitment to do only what is in the absolute best interest of the Dash network.

I feel this is a great investment for Dash and here are some reasons why I've dedicated my time to it.
I see this proposal as a gateway to mass adoption because it is an endorsement by respected top-level mixed martial artists who are publicly stating they value cryptocurrency over fiat. Let’s face it, most people are influenced by “heroes” and Rory could be the MMA hero that attracts hundreds of thousands of new users to Dash. His recent fight already has 770k views on YouTube in 5 days! The TV event will be broadcast on a major re-brand of a major network and get a million viewers. Long term, this could be the crack in the dam that could lead to a deluge of new mainstream adoption. Long-term this proposal could result in a self-sustaining sub-DAO which organizes sporting events with rewards paid in Dash.
Here is a Rory “highlight video” and an article about how both fighters want to be paid in crypto! This could be a major coup for Dash to be THE MMA CRYPTOCURRENCY and THE sporting event prize in the future, resulting in mass desire and adoption of those in our target demographic http://mmaimports.com/2017/12/bellator-champion-douglas-lima-massive-paycheck-bitcoin-mma-news/

Given that, the only potential downside is “saturating” the market with an additional 330 dash (that is, of course, dependent on how much he decides to hold). That 330 dash exposed to the market — IMO, is far FAR outweighed by the number of potential eyes he could bring us.
To me, this is a pretty easy YES.

Rory openly said that his ultimate vision is to see this sponsorship grow so that Dash could even have its own tournament or even a league in the future. If Dash is seen as a higher value reward than USD to millions of fans in the fastest growing sport in the world, it will have a major impact and these fans will want Dash for themselves.
The following exposure will be achieved through this proposal:
Showing that Dash can actually be desired by someone so adamant about Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash will cause people to question what Dash is and why Rory wants to get paid in Dash. Top that with the fact a world class athlete wants to be rewarded in Dash for his fight is a fantastic statement!
Before Fight Event:
Social Media Outreach:
-Tweet and Instagram posts (~500k followers) about being sponsored by Dash. Rory already tweets about Bitcoin Cash so it will be a compatible audience with regards to scaling methodology.
-Rory will do his best to wear Dash branded gear during interviews and press conferences.
-Rory will do his best to mention Dash in interviews.
During Fight Event, Rory will wear:
-A shirt with Dash front and center during the walk-out
-A Dash logo on his shorts during the fight entire fight
-A Dash trucker hat after the fight during the post fight interview
After the Fight Event:
The fight will be re-broadcast on Paramount Network and uploaded to YouTube.
For example, Rory’s latest fight against Paul Daley has generated 344k views in 2 days!
That was not a title fight, which (typically) will have much more attention and views towards it. Here is the link for that fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usqKTOEu2-I
Overall, we feel this proposal will be a major awareness campaign and momentum builder for Dash prior to Ogilvy’s marketing blitz and Evolution alpha release. It will generate millions of impressions to the fastest growing sport in the world and the demographic is especially well-suited to Dash early-adopter target market.
From a pure exposure standpoint I'd like to see Rory wearing our logo because even if the message is subliminal we need to have our name out there.
but from an ROI standpoint this is another DASH foolish giveaway. 5 million people might watch this fight but outside of the cryptosphere no one will recall what Rory or any other fighter was wearing.
a more complete proposal that linked to DASH.Org or some other link to expand the viewers knowledge of "What's that blue patch on the front of Rory's shorts doing on there"? I think 1/4 million is over the top for what DASH is getting. you should have asked for 75K
Mainstream media is picking up on cryptocurrency and there are articles everyday.
Everyone I know has heard of Bitcoin. People are trying desperately to buy bitcoin but exchanges are overloaded...but has anyone heard of Dash?
What if a respected MMA fighter that isn't known to "sell out" wears a "I accept Dash - Digital Cash" t-shirt out to his title fight and demands crypto for payment? That is the exposure you can't pay for. That is true belief in the system we are trying to achieve - an off-ramp to the debt base fiat money system and Rory is stepping up to fly that flag.
This does not go without risk to him either. We have to compensate this act of bravery and pioneering in his space. This could set Dash up to become the crypto of MMA, or even host tournaments with the best fighters who want to be paid in real money - DASH.
Rory is as hungry for Dash as he is the for the belt! He doesn't want dirty fiat money.
We had to peg the Dash to a USD value to give people an idea of what the ROI would be for this type of advertising. $250,000 USD is about average for a full sponsorship of a title-fight contender. In our opinion, this will be an awesome investment for the network because Rory's fans are already crypto-aware and it's not like he's just shilling some irrelevant product - this is something Rory believes in and feels it could be the beginning of a way to pay fighters. Even his opponent has caught on and wants crypto! This is like a crypto awakening for the masses of MMA fans. We are so passionate about this opportunity at GreenCandle that we aren't even charging the Dash Network any more than a small Escrow fee.
I hope that answered your question.
Nate
> My understanding is that Greencandle will pay him $250,000 (is this correct?)
No Rory will be receiving 320 Dash for this sponsorship package. It was only denominated in Fiat to provide the Masternode owners a point of reference.
> What will happen to the 80 Dash left?
There is no Dash remaining. The proposal is completely paid in Dash. There have been some MMA fighters quoted that each time they step into the Octagon they are risking their lives. We personally are very humbled that Rory is willing to step into the cage with Dash on his uniform and in reward only wants Dash. We believe that the fact a world class athlete is willing to accept Dash is a very strong statement to the world at large that Digital and Cryptocurrency are here to stay.
In other comments we have also stated that Rory is willing to continue this sponsorship for as long as the Masternode owners see value in it. That could mean he fights the entire year wearing Dash. We reviewed his footage from his historic fight at UFC 189 against Robbie Lawler. During this fight his walkout was 2 mins long, the fight was almost 1 hour, and the footage has been immortalized for the immediate future as many have called it one of the best mixed martial arts fights in the entire history of the sport.
Let's reiterate that the legend who was part of the greatest fight in MMA history wants to accept Dash.
either way he is worth the 320 Dash. seems the 10 Dash is not really being used for escrow like the other projects but more as a "finders fee", which is fair IMO.

Same question about the excess funding though. In our current mania, this is an increasingly important question that every proposal should plan on addressing without having to be asked.

What happens to the additional Dash that doesn't get used because it's over the USD amount required?
