Proposal description

Hi,

I’m Mihkel, a Dash community member, i’ve been active with proposals in
the past but mainly my focus has been on launching this product.
https://eventizer.net/pay.live/IMG_9612.PNG

Previous successful proposals:
https://www.dashcentral.org/p/tallinn-blockchain-conference
https://www.dashcentral.org/p/estonian-community-building-phase1
Today I am introducing something I’ve been working on for the past two
years. It’s a POS system that answers a wide spread question in our
crypto community: how to use crypto in real life?
Pay.live is a browser-based POS that works with every device that is connected
to the Internet and has a browser. Dash is the default currency.

The following merchants are already using pay.live in Tallinn:
Pizza and Cannoli Vinotek
Grand Shisha Cocktail bar
Reval Denim Guild
T1 Rooftop Bar
Eros Sex Boutique
Ivo Prooman designer jewelry

And ~30 active but unknown clients who have registered with email.
The purpose of this proposal is to ask for financial support in order to cover some of the expenses and hire help.

Affiliate program
50% Commission - From each transaction - For the rest of the days.
Example:
You bring pay.live a new client, for example Pizza and Cannoli Vinotek, using the affiliate program.
A pizza that costs 10EUR, cost for merchant is 0.4%, you will earn 0.2% (in crypto)

My spendings in the past:

Development 19 months - 4500 EUR/month (85.500EUR - 1.315 DASH today)
(Office - 400 EUR ; Developer 4.100 EUR full-time)
More features coming out soon.

Return on Investment:
The greatest benefits for the community will be all the new Dash merchants!

How the funds will be used?
Dash funding will hire 2 strong salesman for four months.
They convince merchants to use dash.
They will focus on Tallinn, Estonia.
They will put many new Dash merchants on the map with pay.live.
I will use my own limited funds to create supportive video material but need help with paying the salesman.

38 DASH/month (4 months)  147 DASH Total
5 DASH - proposal fee
I would really appreciate if Dash community would help with adoption.

ltc should not be included as a payment option. I don't want to pay to develop products for ltc or eth etc. It is now very fast and easy for crypto users to trade their ltc or other crypto for Dash. People will quickly adapt and start using/holding Dash.
This is an advantage we have with our treasury and we should not be funding development of our competition. btc would be the only exception but we should move away from that too ASAP. btc has better name recognition so there is advantages to being placed next to them in many cases.
In some instances the case can be made to have multiple currencies but only if Dash gets an advantage like lower fees or discounts for use etc.
This goes for all DAO funded proposals!

Hello Mastermind

I understand your concern, but now is not the right time to do that. We should look a little bit deeper into that. Most of our merchants actually don´t have much traffic. We try to send them some but it is hard. If merchants don't have any traffic then they start forgetting about crypto in general and at some point they can de-list cryptocurrency as a payment method including Dash. So anything what keeps this infrastructure active is good for Dash. LTC and BTC in this case are working for Dash. Let them do that. We need it. But there is coming right time when we can let them go on their way.

This is very true. I don't see BTC and LTC or other cryptos in general as competition.
FIAT is the competition. All we need to do is make sure is that we make Dash more prominent, easier to use. So on the terminal it would be good to have a speed and price comparison chart for dash when not in use. Make dash button bigger and things like this.
More prominence and it will show any other people paying in crypto that dash is better. but removing other cryptos is silly.

1) You own and created POS software
2) You like Dash for obvious technical superior reasons
3) You see funding to market Dash a the first to use currency, but will also include other currency's

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you Proposal deliver and ask could have been a bit better.

Question
1)
The main question for me than becomes, why should merchants choose you instead of other payment providers ?

2) Do you also have another website ? because it's a bit weird to directly enter a payment demo, and have the register en login on top as well. Assuming you don't have one I suggest you get some advice in how to market and communicate more effectively with you're targeted audience (Merchants i guess).

Hi
1) There is many reasons. First of all is that this POS have features what others don't. For example, some merchants don't care about crypto at all. I have also plan how can I onboard them. They don't want to take a risk of crypto volatility. But they want new clients so I found a solution for it. I have special API's to exchange so if crypto is coming in then it automatically changes to fiat in exchanges and my company will send them fiat to a bank account if they want. They have expenses still in euros. The client may want to hold some Dash but also sell their Dash. pay.live can offer a liquidity. I don't know anyone else who can do that. I believe pay.live is very unique. But very different from others and at the same time it has this classic pos UI. If there is coming in future something better then pay.live then it is very good. More teams with the same goal. This market needs competition.

2) I do things a bit differently. I like the beauty of onepager's. This is my style. Of course there is coming more information but I have other solution for it. I use tooltips and also one information page for several other information but no landing page. The tool itself is the landing page. "Onepager tool" can be much more attractive to potential clients then some other site with allot for info and long landing page. I am very confident with this solution and I see it as a key to success.

Pay.live also accepts btc and ltc. It is very important to do so. If Dash would take a direction to cut out all the other cryptos at any given chance then me and many other community member would step off from this train. They are not the real competitors to Dash. In my opinion it is even very good that Dash is not in top 3 in CMC (yet). So they can take all the heat and face the other problems while we can focus on development at the same time. In near future we have much bigger problems then btc and ltc so let's keep them close and if the right time comes, when we are big enough, then we can delist them.

There are several things I like about this project.

1. The first thing is committed leadership: Mihkel has put is own money in to develop this software upfront. That is a very good sign. It shows that the leader of the project is totally committed to his project. This is something DASH projects needs. How many times have we seen people put in money for projects and not deliver and make off with the money. In this case Mihkel has spent more than 80K euros of his own money and 19 months of development to create this POS software already. Committed leadership is ESSENTIAL for any project there can be no question about commitment on this project and the fact that Mihkel integrated DASH as one of only 3 coins shows he believes in our technology.

2. Estonia is an excellent location in Europe to establish DASH. The country is exceptionally tech savvy and they country has used tech to lift their country up to a leader in tech. Innovations such as Skype and E-Residency are just a few of the most advanced tech ideas to come out of Estonia.

3. I like the marketing strategy of this team. Unlike many other projects I've seen Mihkel is going to be investing in 4 sales staff to promote the POS software. This is absolutely crucial for success. If these are professional sales people they will be able to work magic. I know because I've worked with an excellent sales team and the things they can achieve is nothing short of outstanding. That is if you have a professional and experienced sales force. I feel DASH is not getting into many markets because they have not realised the tremendous value that an experienced sales team can bring. With crypto I feel SALES is more important than Marketing because with crypto you need that person to person contact to answer all the detailed niggly questions that first times users of crypto will have. You can't do that easily through marketing but you can with a one to one sales person. We need sales people to establish DASH and it is clear that Mihkel knows what he is doing.

4. Finally the incentive program for signing up new merchants. Once again Mihkel has chosen an excellent incentive package 50% of the 0.4% commission goes to the person that signs up a merchant. I can't think of a better incentive program.

I normally advocate promoting DASH in countries that have a need for crypto however the exception are countries that are particularly advanced in tech or blockchain technology and are building their reputation in this area.

For this reason I think this project can bring huge benefits to DASH and establish DASH in Estonia. This would then give us an EU country that has widespead adoption of crypto.

I think this is a very exciting project, well thought out, with a very attractive incentive program. Mihkel is obviously very business savvy he has all the makings of an excellent business model that could get DASH established in Estonia and European country.

My only question is the timing on this project. Mihkel why did you post this project in this month when there are so many other excellent projects going through and very little funds left. Could you not have waited until next month? I really like this project and having experience in working with a small sales team at one point in my career I know they can work magic - if you get the right sales people on board. Could I ask how are you the following about your Sales staff.

How have you selected your sales people?
What are their backgrounds?
What age group are the sales staff?
Have you had previous dealings these sales people? if so what?
What areas have they worked in sales previously?
Will you be paying them a wage or will it be commission only sales?

Wow, you touched my heart here. Thank you for looking so deeply into it.
Why did I post this now? When there is many other projects and very little funds left.
Because I am/was also holding Dash. The money what was meant to kickstart this project, I had it in Dash, not much left anymore, expenses are in still euros. Didn't know that the price can go so low. Yes, it's crypto and yes it had happen before. I didn't want to bother community with this project but now I am forced to do so. Tough time for all of us. But maybe it had to happen.

I have dream. What if we reach out to all of our community members and everyone who have a friend with a business/shop/restaurant/bar etc. around the world, everyone can be part of adoption and earn a passive income as a reward. It will give as all the same goal. All the new members in the community who like to have some Dash but don't have money to invest - here is a chance. You missed the mn boat - here is still chance to earn a passive income. I believe we can do this together. Imagine how strong can we be then. There is coming a time frame where is very easy to convince merchants. The time when the price moves up. If we are ready with the whole community before this time...

So yes, timing is very important. I believe right now is the best time to prepare.

This project needs a kickstart:
Plan for salesman.
With that Dash price at the moment (64eur) I can hire 2 strong salesman. If it will rise, then more.
I have some very good persons in mind but before I need to teach them about Dash and crypto in general before they start with the work. So I need to know the outcome of this proposal before I approach them. Salesman will "sell" Dash and crypto in general for merchants and why they need it. Pay.live is a solution how can they get it. They will get salary + 50% so they can do it with strong passion. They are early 30's and know about crypto and have strong salesman background.

I have listened to what you said and your project needs a "kickstart". I therefore spent some time this weekend thinking how your POS system could be actively promoted to large numbers of businesses at no cost. I came up with one solid promotion idea that could have your POS introduced to potentially hundreds of thousands of businesses, at no additional cost other than the 0.2% commission fee. It requires a little out of the box thinking and planning and a little work on your part to set it up, however the promotional concept has some potential.

If you would like to discuss the promotion concept I've thought up for your POS then you can private message me at the forum. My forum name is DeepBlue. Please ensure to post your Dash Forum username here so that I know it is you.

I see that you have business model/profit model that includes taking a fee for every transaction done via this software, this make this not just software but this also makes you PSP (payment service provider).

I am not 100% certain this type of software should ask any kind off fee, especially seeing there are free alternatives. Do at the same time I understand you put in you're money and time.

Question could you explain a bit more why you choose this businessmodel/profitmodel
Reply
1 point,5 years ago
In my opinion, this is a silly objection especially when you take into consideration the minimal % fee.

Hi,
Someone needs to pay, one way or another.
For development, new features, designs, maintenance etc.

For example:
If the funding for development is coming from Dash, then it should be free for users for sure. Then our community has payed for it. But this is not the case.

If the funding is coming from me, then I need to add a fee for customers.

Decision for this business model is because I see how hard it is to ask for example 2000dash from community. With that money I can build a tool what merchants need for their business. Adoption is not coming without very good PointOfSale and I believe I am building the best one.
Real merchants need a tool with API's for their fiat POS, inventory catalogs etc. Not just a tool where you can insert number and it shows a QR.

And fee is also very important for affiliation.

And there are still some people in community who just like to crush your proposal with comments even if you do a right thing. So I decided to save my nerves and pay for it.

This proposal is not about this POS what I have. I am just showing it.
This proposal is for convincing merchants to use Dash.

I hope this answered your question. :)

Eem.. Community?
This guy here puts he's own money on the table and leads the adoption step by step.
And you vote NO for that?
Someone please explain why is that..
Here you have something REAL, and you say it's not GOOD enough? :)
Funny huh?

I am not voting no but I can think of a couple of reasons others might.

* Proposal is very geography specific to a place that is not a target location and from where we don't see sign of dash adoption in general.

* We already have multiple POS systems. If a busses wants to accept dash they can use them, so this is not filling a need.

* This business has a good revenue model, if they is a sustainable business they can just run it and profit without dash treasury funding (if not then its not sustainable anyway).

This is just me playing devil's advocate, I wish them the best.

I think it's getting hard to get noticed now a days?? A lot of great hard working people from way back can't get funding. Maybe we have a lot of new community members who are MNOs and don't know anyone (this system still requires trust) Anyway, it's an issue....

OP, since you're requesting funds for merchant onboarding, I'd like to see some promising Dash traction begin in Talinn, Estonia before I'd consider allocating onboarding funds there. A small handful of merchants is not significant -- you can find that in nearly any major city anywhere in the world today.

If you can grow momentum there, I'd be willing to pay you much more than you're currently asking, as well.

Please show me first.

Errr, the funds requested are not significant. When compared to what they have already acheived (or he/she) it seems very reasonable to me.

Hi, Thank you for reading the proposal! Your question is very confusing to me.
I see it as a "egg and chicken" problem what we have to solve. Who is coming first, egg (merchants) or chicken (people with dash). This is what we try to solve. Do I understand correctly that you want to see proof of both, egg and chicken before deciding that is Tallinn worth to have them both? This proposal is bringing allot of Dash eggs and I know that it is very important to have them.

I didn't make this proposal for earning 38dash a month. It is not some short term money grab what I have seen with some other proposals. I see it as a long term partnership and I have been working on it for years. Things need to go step by step. And it is important to start with small amount and if things are very good then we can scale up.

If Pay.Live and Dash want to work together then we all need to trust each other. I need to show that Pay.Live can keep it's promise and Dash need to show that WE as a community can make right decisions.

We are here all in the same boat. This is opportunity for all of us to have new Dash eggs with very low cost. You and the whole community will benefit.

Can you please explain how this is different from spark pos or what anypay? Which currently already are running ?
Reply

Hi, interesting question.

I need to have a look. :)
Ok, Different design, different UX and UI, different team, different pricing and now if I check them out then I see that Pay.live have more features. And I really like that there is also other teams who solve the same issue. It's like split testing.
I hope you saw that the funds are not meant for developing another Point of sale. This I already covered. Funds are going to convince merchants to use Dash, pay.live is just a tool for them.

Cheers

what's the suggested use case to pay with Dash in Estonia? Ie. wouldn't it be better to hold Dash as an investment and continue to spend Euros?

Hey GrandMasterDash, Thank you!

Dash is the currency by default. It's like a podium - winner in the center. But it is not hard to change it if you are really sure that it is right thing to do. I don't mind. I listen the feedback very carefully.
With this L thing... :) it has also a story. Merchants don't know which crypto is the best (yet) and there is so many of them. They don't want to miss out anything. It is coming with time. I don't care about btc or ltc at all but they need to have this option. Freedom of choice. For them, first experience with crypto is with Dash anyway, because I always give them some. First 20 transactions will paint them pretty clear picture, which is the best.
