DASH-EX DEVELOPMENT: LOCAL EXCHANGE APP FOR INSTANT LIQUIDITY OF DASH

WHAT THE PROPOSAL SEEKS TO ACHIEVE
● Find solution to the liquidity challenge facing dash users in Ghana and beyond.
● Expand dash as a currency that can be used for remittance services in Africa.
● Increase the visibility of Dash as a payment method
● Find solution to the friction in dealing with fiat currencies
● Create awareness and education of dash among the masses

OBJECTIVES
●  Partnering with TechLens Ghana (www.techlensgh.com/) to develop an app (DASH-EX) for instant liquidity of Dash through Mobile Money E-cash system.
● Leveraging on Mobile payment systems in Ghana to enable a flow between E-cash and Dash Digital Cash.

● Create advertisements to market the product to 500+ users within the first three (3) months of usage.

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION
This proposal would fund the development of the first local Exchange App (DASH-EX) targeting the Ghanaian economy through partnerships with TechLens Ghana (www.techlensgh.com/). Note: consultations are on-going with this company concerning the potential feasibility of the app. DASH-EX would be one of the most advanced and robust dash exchange tech designed to embrace the idea of “Simplicity” and “Accessibility”, empowering and bringing people from all walks of life to embrace the technological revolution of Blockchain and adopting dash digital cash.
This project addresses a basic need of Dash - adoption. It will be a tool to help consumers and merchants adopt dash easily once they’ve decided to participate in the Dash ecosystem. Not only will this help those who have decided this, but it may influence others who would like to, but think liquidity is too difficult.

The app would incorporate the local advanced system of banking for most of the people in Ghana and other African countries known as MOBILE MONEY to achieve its goal.
Below is the brief explanation of mobile money and its existence in Africa.

Mobile Money (or Mobile Payment) generally refers to payment services operated under financial regulation and performed from or via a mobile device. Instead of paying with cash, cheque, or credit cards, a consumer can use a mobile to pay for a wide range of services and digital or hard goods. GSMA (2013) defines MM as a transformational service that uses ICT and non-bank retail channels to extend the delivery of financial services to the clients who cannot easily be reached profitably with traditional branched-based financial services.

In developing countries like Ghana, mobile payment solutions have been deployed as a means of extending financial services to the community known as the "unbanked"or "underbanked,"which is estimated to be as much as 50% of the world's adult population, according to Financial Access' 2009 Report "Half the World is Unbanked". These payment networks are often
used for micro-payments in Ghana. The use of mobile payments in developing countries has attracted public and private funding by organizations such as the Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation, United States Agency for International Development and Mercy Corps. And now most people in Ghana depend on this mobile payment services for their financial transactions. Mobile payment services are provided by existing Communication networks in the country. These are the MTN mobile money service, Airtel Mobile money service, Vodafone cash service etc. Starting from Ghana, this project will not be limited to Ghana but may extend to other places in the future. The app shall be the solution to the high liquidity challenge facing dash users as well as reduce the risk of losing money in trading Dash by merchants as a result of volatility.

Also, this new development in the Dash ecosystem would be a major breakthrough that will
enhance the value proposition of Dash payment services in Ghana as well as enable us to foster better collaboration with the Mobile Money service providers that will lead to developing additional innovative products for the enhancement
of the financial sector in the country.

Our main aim is to expand the level of both consumers and business adoption and build more confidence for Dash payment system in Ghana and beyond.

DASH-EX being the first Mobile exchange app in Ghana, would be one of the main platforms driving the achievement of a decentralized economy in the world.

THE SITUATION
The idea to develop Dash exchange app came up when we identified a crucial shortcoming in the present Cryptocurrency exchange ecosystem in Africa. Dash adoption has gained much momentum in Ghana as a result of the persistent adoption campaigns in the country. However, liquidity has been the biggest challenge that discourages people and merchant adoption in the country. For instance, businesses that accept Dash need instant liquidity to avoid loses in case price goes down. Merchants complain of lost whenever crypto prices go down because these businesses plough back their daily sales to maintain activeness in business. They do not hold for long. Example, if a customer pays for a good at $50.00 today and by tomorrow, the price of Dash goes down making the $50.00 paid to him reduced to $40.00. The merchant just made a $10.00 lost.

Despite the existence of the online exchanges that trade Dash in Ghana; www.ebitcoinics.com and www.uniquecoin.net, the problem still persist as a result of the following identified deficiencies.

●Poor-responsive customer support
●Delay in transactions
●In adequateawareness and education among the masses
●Friction in dealing with several digital currencies

These challenges have been the major reasons why businesses do not adopt Dash and also making other existing merchants to lose confidence in Dash. They complain of losing money whiles trading with Dash. It is on the basis of this problem that this idea was developed to take an initiative that will assist to find solution to the problem.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO
Considering the penetration and utility of mobile platforms in our daily life, we intend to provide a user-friendly platform exclusively for Dash users through creating a functioning local app (DASH-EX) for instant liquidity. DASH-EX would be a free
mobile app designed to run on mobile platforms (Android, iOS, Windows Phone) and desktop platforms (Linux, macOS, Windows). This project would be designed for users to be able to access and exchange Dash quickly, easily, and securely. In order to further adoption of Dash in Ghana we need to make it easy for merchants to accept Dash as a form of payment. This system will enable us to do so.

DASH-EX platform will redefine how existing online exchanges operate and by attracting more users via our simple product offerings, we will expand the pool of participants by fostering greater market liquidity and thereby contributing to its overall growth. This will be done through creating a flow between MM e-cash system and Dash. The project would explore local requirements to give users the ability to link their Dash wallets with their Mobile Money service accounts. The app will create a comprehensive account equipped to interact seamlessly with these two financial accounts to enable easy way of liquidating Dash.

To achieve this, the team shall get a registered MM merchant wallet and load it with MM E-cash. Every dash user who wants to use the app will first be registered with an account of MM. A person will therefore be able to convert Dash to cash through exchanging the Dash with E-cash through DASH-EX. Mobile money merchants are established at vantage points in every town of the country that enable people to cash out from their MM wallets to cash at any time. Also, we shall make sure that exchanging dash for e-cash through the app will attract no charge. However, minimal rates shall be attached on those who will buy dash
through the app. These charges will serve as the reserve funds to keep the operation of DASH-EX sustainable after three months.

DASH-EX being the first local exchange app exclusively for dash shall take into account the following factors to improve the dash exchange ecosystem in Ghana:

High Processing Speeds through Responsive Customer Support:DASH-EX will maintain instant liquidity through responding quickly to transactions. With the fast transaction speeds of MM and Dash, this would be
achieved by developing the app to handle transactions with proper processing speeds.

● Ease of use: Not only we are working hard to develop a user-friendly web interface for Dash users, the app would be designed
with simple techniques to allow both technical and less technical inclined people use it.

● Proper awareness and education: All dash ambassadors in Ghana shall join hands to market the product to almost every dash user in Ghana. Also, our training platform will offer a seamless integration of the user with the overall framework of the app and its functionality.

BUDGET
● E-cash for the app = $1500
● Payment to TechLENs developers = $2950
● Support Service Charge = $1,500

Jingles will be played on radio stations to create public awareness and Dash Ghana team encouraged to market the product. The 10 dash liquidity here shall be the initial capital in dash used to create the flow between consumers E-cash

This year has been so tough, and our West African team has been left out to dry for most of it. I know the budget is super tight again this month, but we need to do for Ghana and Nigeria what we have done for Venezuela.

Dear MNOs, it has become worrying to Dash Ghana Team as feedback seems almost impossible. Haven’t lost several proposals in the past 6 months by Dash ambassadors in Ghana, we (Dash ambassadors in Ghana) gathered that our individual operations was a contributing factor to such losses owing to similar suggestions by a good number of people from the Dash community, we came together as one, worked on this proposal as required of us unfortunately, not only is the proposal not doing well but we are not getting any feedback as to why you are voting NO. Despite the fact that Dash Ghana Team is highly self motivated and working towards a common goal of making Dash a mainstream crypto, 5 Dash equally means a lot to us. We have burnt over 20 Dash in the past 4 months alone as proposal fees and this is not funny for any group of young men from our part of the world. We do not want to get demoralize by the constant “NO VOTERS” however, we feel there’s a problem we haven’t figured out and the only way we can figure this is by getting feedback from you people as to why we kept being ‘rejected’ this while otherwise, we are tempted to think that our service is not needed. Notwithstanding that a large number of Ghanaians are now aware of Dash through previous meet ups and conferences, we seek to create merchant adoption and usage and this wouldn’t come without first sorting out liquidity which is what this proposal is about. A USA recycling factory that have outlets in Ghana have their CEO Mr. Robin express interest of his business accepting Dash and remitting money from Ghana to USA through Dash. He finds it cheaper having his customers and distributors sending him money through Dash than bank transfers unfortunately, we are not able to make this great deal because we cannot even get 100k USD worth of Dash a month in this country (Ghana). Imagine his business partners having to buy at least a 100k worth of Dash every month to pay for supplies? Why is the Dash community taunting our efforts baselessly? We are here to discuss any issues of concern and to answer all your questions. Let’s not lose this proposal.

I was skeptical at first because of the proposal title.

The title sounded like you were operating an exchange that had liquidity problems and wanted a bailout. The first 1.5 screens worth of proposal hinted that this "liquidity problem" wasn't to bail out an existing exchange, but they didn't define it until "THE SITUATION". MNOs who didn't read that far might not have even seen your definition.

*Dash liquidity for Ghanaian merchants* is the key problem you're solving, and now that I understand this, I'm voting YES. I'm betting the average MNO knows very little about the biggest hurdles facing Dash adoption in Ghana, and might be more inclined to vote YES if you define this at the start of the proposal instead of the middle.

You are right i think that all MNO that voted yes must help you but telling what is wrong. So i don't like this too. Decentralization is good but sometimes it is annoying. So For helping not only Sahabia but all proposal owner, when you are voting no please let share them what is not good at your eyes, and i think that will help Dash and you too as big Dash holders.

Have you guys considered Anypay? That would seem like an easier way to achieve the same thing.
Reply
2 points,6 years ago
@ageless thanks for the question.
Yes, we acknowledged the presents of anypay but it's unlike Dash-ex.

Firstly, anypay is a dash POS that's normally used by physical dash merchants whiles Dash-ex is going to be a dash exclusive exchange between dash and E-cash. Secondly, Dash-ex will embrace local requirements such as the thriving Mobile payment services in the Ghanaian economy to achieve instant fiat->dash or dash->fiat for all dash users in Ghana. Thirdly, anypay does not offer instant liquidity and normally only convert Dash->Dollars once per day for businesses interested in US Dollar bank transfers which is still not favourable for businesses in this part of the world due to international bank transaction fees.
Indeed, anypay is one of the valuable dash projects but E-cash is already been used by almost everyone in Ghana. We want to leverage on this opportunity to 1) provide instant liquidity to people through what they are already used to. 2) attract more people to the usage of dash and 3) expand accessibility and convenience in accepting dash.

Thanks Sahabia. Have you got a flow chart of how this would work? A (virtual) MVP i think would help a lot if you are building something from scratch. It might have been better to ask for smaller funding to make an MVP before asking for funding to go from idea to product too imo.

I really think the route may be, if not with anypay, another partner to help you bootstrap this. Electropay are just launching now too

The economist says focus on the West because that's the place with the most short term profit.

The engineer says focus on the long term profit and build something that lasts for centuries. This will generate more value over longer time, but less in the short term.

I like the engineer's approach.

also strategy question: what if promoting dash for protecting people's savings is a strategy that gets way more consumers interested than promoting it for online shopping savings?
Reply
5 points,6 years ago
Yes, promoting dash is the best strategy to protect people's savings and that's one of the things DASH GHANA wants to achieve in Ghana by letting people understand that Dash is a hedge against localised events.

We can think of this in Africa where our Governments have dramatically decreased the value of people's savings as the countries go through hyperinflation. Or when an event like governments manipulating local currencies and people's savings taking a dive. As Dash being a global asset, it's less affected by these localised events or an irresponsible government because it's decentralised.

Also, cryptos like Dash bank the unbanked. Most people in third world nations such as Ghana are unbanked and with no home and no government identification they cannot open bank accounts as they don’t have a proof of address or a Government I.D. With dash, all they need is internet access and a phone and they can then start accepting and storing digital payments.

With the above examples, consumers will definitely see dash as the best option to protect their savings in the Ghanaian economy.

Also, we are looking at equally running a pension plan for Ghanaians with Dash and other savings opportunities such as “susu” where Dash users can get micro-credit in a cyclical form with moderate repayment terms. Access to credit is a huge problem here in Ghana and Africa at large, we are looking at solving this challenge through Dash which will draw more people to participate and use Dash even those with bank accounts. Why run a bank account when they won’t extend u credit meanwhile you could run an active Dash wallet and get Dash credit on agreed terms from the local Dash network so yes, we are looking at promoting Dash as savings and creating credit as well but we first need to start somewhere which is why Dash-Ex is very important to us. Thanks very much for your support, the goal is big but a step at a time

what's this sahabia that most people in ghana don't have a home? is that correct or a typo?
Reply
3 points,6 years ago
No @telegon_heights it's typo. I actually mean that
people with no home address and no government identification cannot open bank accounts as they don’t have a proof of address or a Government I.D. This is unlike dash as they only need internet access and phone. Thank you

My head still spins thinking about how we have let our West African.... hell all of our African teams down! They know what their regions need, just because their volume is tiny, it isn't for them, and Dash can change so much there. Why not help with distribution of Dash into West Africa? Planting seeds is for future benefit not immediate benefit! Why are we so freaking conservative now? Our growth is stagnating, there is no more passion here. It's like we've been infiltrated by Wall St. suits. Only those with money should benefit from Dash, right?

@Tantesfena thank you so much for your kind support and for this amazing recognition of our efforts for dash in Africa. Our team is dedicated to provide the best service for this community and nothing else.

It takes a lot of efforts to reach a decent-sized of something great you want to achieve. This is the passion we have for dash.

I don't understand why this is getting no votes. This proposal would actually give us an exclusive exchange just for Dash, which no other cryptocurrency has (except Bitcoin). Just think of the news we can make with that!

Besides, it might also become a way for Dash Ghana to become self-sustaining, and rely less on the treasury.
Reply

Thank you so much for your comment @tovarish. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your acknowledgement of this proposal with everyone.

We are indeed hoping that our dear MNOs see the relevance of what we are trying to achieve for this community. If we are granted, We promise to work hard to meet expectations.

As your rightly said, we want to build an exclusive exchange embracing the idea of Simplicity and Accessibility for our dash users in the Ghanaian economy. Giving dash users the opportunity to buy or sell dash safely. Our aim is to make dash the most convenient digital currency to spend and adopt by newbies especially merchants in Ghana without having worry about liquidity.

Giving them the options to hold dash or easily convert to fiat if necessary. Indeed, dash-ex would pride itself to be sustaining empowering Dash Ghana the ability to undertake other activities without depending on the treasury.

This is an initiative that will be outstanding enough to entice the crypto space and the medal shall only goes to dash community.

We sincerely ask for the support of MNOs to provide the best service.

Thanks once again.

<For instance, businesses that accept Dash need instant liquidity to avoid loses in case price goes down. > a) their brains are not convinced to keep those holdings in dash as an investment?
b) or pay their employees with that dash?
c) or they need all that money back into fiat to be able to buy more inventory for their store?
Reply
0 points,6 years ago
d) ya what about just the strategy of incentivizing them to stay in dash and not convert back into fiat?
e) what is the customer demand like in ghana to pay with dash? furthermore per gresham's law people want to spend bad money first (ie. ghana dollar) and save good money (ie. dash). So that brings up the quesition--what is the customers incentive get rid of their good money (ie. dash) and be buying things at stores with it?
Reply
4 points,6 years ago
@Telegon_heights thank you for the queries. I hope to answer them in order:

a) As rational human beings, no business owner will want to hold fiat whiles Dash appreciates when he or she have the options of holding Dash. We are giving business owners the options. However, one way to make people believe in letting go of what they are use to for something new is making them see for themselves what the new development can offer them. Holding Dash and mobile money on the same app that shows the volatility in Dash and the stagnation and inflation in holding electronic fiat (mobile money) will make this easy. Business men will appreciate to keep a good sum of money as investment in Dash than to hold cedi since they can make more returns holding Dash.

b) Businesses can and will chose to pay their employees with Dash because we all know it is less expensive paying in Dash compared to mobile money which is why the app will be accessible by all on all devices. Employees can download the app to receive payment and if any employee need fiat at anytime, the fellow can convert a portion of his/salary into fiat on the same app. However, knowing the charges involve in sending mobile money from Mr. A to Mr. B, Mr. A will simply demand Mr. B to download Dash-Ex to receive payment from him (Mr.A). Mr A is incentivize to keep his salary in Dash because of gains in price changes and the less charges in spending Dash compared to spending mobile money. Hence any extra income that Mr. A makes which comes in as mobile money he can and will simply convert it to Dash and Dash-Ex makes it possible.

c) If a business owner needs all his money in Dash back to fiat for whatever purpose at anytime for example buying goods elsewhere with physical cash, the fellow can easily withdraw Dash into cash from any mobile money merchant which is why we are launching the app with the mobile money merchants because they are widely spread everywhere in the country. However, in doing so, the business man will be paying a charge just as equivalent to withdrawing mobile money into cash because it is from these charges that the merchant gets paid so if the business man have the option of just paying straight with Dash hence not paying charges for sending mobile money payments and not also paying charges for withdrawing, he will gladly pay with Dash therefore encouraging his supplier to receive payment in Dash as it is cheaper for them all. This is disruptive.

d) We are incentivizing them to stay just in Dash by letting them see how cheap it is to spend Dash, how much returns they can make holding Dash and the ability to convert Dash to fiat if they ever feel they are making loses. There will be no need holding fiat without gaining knowing putting the same money in Dash will yield good returns which is what we are doing. Give them the options, educate them and make it simple for them to use just like they already use mobile money.

e) The customer demand to pay in Dash is great, that’s why Dash promotion in Ghana generally almost came to a halt because there was a lot of demand but no Dash available. Most of these people who demanded Dash demanded it for payments especially shopping online because it is cheaper. Again, others wanted Dash just to keep and our only two exchanges that accepts Dash haven’t been able to meet up so we often made request on Dash_talk for suppliers and yes some community members supported but remitting fiat back to these individuals who supplied us Dash was becoming an issue. Dash-Ex is solving it all by making it possible for Ghanaians to buy and spend Dash locally at any amount cheaper than any epayment solution available. Customers will save more in spending Dash, have the fastest transactions possible with instant send and freely spend across borders unlike Ghana cedis.

e) -->
1) how much % cheaper for online shopping?
2) dash-ex solving it by making it possible to buy and spend Dash cheaper than any epayment competitor. i) who are epayment competitors? ii) the How much % cheaper than vs each epayment competitor?
3) perspective: proposal cud be not close to passing due to it's not indicated in the proposal description why the ghana demand for dash is great, and proof to back that up. To include these for a next proposal
4) no dash was available. so sahabia what about acquiring dash and then reselling it for a premium on dashnearby dot com to create the liquidity?

They need 12 dash aka 3000$ for liquidity if any of you MNO have pipe dreams and think this project will contribute to the dash network your sadly mistaken.

3000$ is not even 0.01% of network volume get real guya and look at the numbers.

Combining e-cash with dash is interesting. These are lofty goals and a relatively small ask in Dash. Will be interesting to see how it progresses.
Reply

Yes. Thank you.

We assure the community that all consultantions are done and that we want to provide the best service. One-stop app where people can push their ecash for Dash on the app and Dash for ecash.
The e-cash system has been thriving very well in the Ghanaian economy. Dash Ghana sees the need to leverage on that opportunity to solve the unfavourable liquidity problem facing dash users in the country by combining these two financial systems.
Reply

@dashghana voting NO,

I dont see any reason why dao must provide to fund an exchange than provide liquidity to, amongst other things.

Thank you
Reply
3 points,6 years ago
Thanks for your concern @realmrhack.

However, DAO has a reason to fund an exchange that provide liquidity for dash because that addresses one of the greatest problems in the Dash ecosystem-liquidity. Also, that will expedes adoption as well as enhace the market for merchants accepting dash.
DASH GHANA is not proposing to build a profit oriented exchange but a local exchange exclusively for dash users through leveraging on local advanced system (Mobile Money E-Cash System)

Dash-ex isn't going to be an exchange trading in many different cryptocurrencies like others do. It will simply be a one-stop app that will create a flow between E-cash and Dash to achieve liquidity.

We see the need for this because we are trying to employ local requirement to help Dashpay thrive in the Ghanaian economy.
In developing countries like Ghana, mobile payment solutions have been deployed as a means of extending financial services to the community known as the "unbanked"or "underbanked". These payment networks are often used for micro-payments in Ghana.

Combining these two financial systems would help achieve liquidity as well as increase the visibility of Dash as a payment method in the country.

DAO has a reason to fund projects that has real ROI. DASH-EX is one of such projects.
In the end, Dash win and we all win, people will easily and conveniently convert mobile money to Dash and Dash back to mobile money instantly, everybody uses mobile money and this we see as the best way to solving our liquidity issues once and for all
Reply
-2 points,6 years ago
The roi for dash network is not what you portray it to be.

1) you have no skin in the game
2) you require the dao to completely fund you 100% with no personal contribution.
3) present lofty ideas
4) failed to provide any anecdotal data.
5) Ghanas dash volumes are a sliver
6) ghana has received substantial dash in the past 12 months
7) no noticble gains or roi to the dash network
8) gilding the lilly rarely solves ghanas problems

Ghana Liquidity: is not a concern for the dao, its a concern for the users and business of ghana, by the dao providing money it wont change the facts on the ground.

Which is not many ACTIVE dash users, you may have the occasional users who show up at conferences open wallets receive some free dash and never return.

1. We have the skin for this, it is unfair to make such a statement when we haven’t failed u neither do you know our full capability. We are not doing this alone
2. A lot of the funding to Ghana have gone to Dash-Hub Africa which is not part of this body of Team (Dash Ghana).
3. Saying liquidity in Ghana is not an issue of the Dash community is like saying global usage of Dash is not a concern to the Dash community but only the people of the world.

Thanks very much Mr. Hack, we hope we can convince you enough to vote for us next time, for now, we appreciate your concerns. Thanks once again.

Thanks for your comment.

Indeed the budget is a little tight but the cost for this proposal isn't outrageous considering the business need this proposal aims to address - liquidity..

Since the start of dash adoption campaigns in Ghana, the problem of liquidity has been carried along. The greatest issue that is hampering the adoption of dash in Ghana.

The platform will enhance liquidity, improve market stability and empower people to to buy and sell dash safely. This will bring real ROI.

Dear MNOs, this project would be promising enough to entice potential investors and traders, institutional people, etc. who can actively participate in trading and thus maintain the liquidity of dash in Ghana thereby revitalizing our efforts as an ambassadors for dash.

The cost isn't outrageous please support us to provide the best service.
